Online retrospective

The retro board for honest team retrospectives

With Pinnarium your team runs a retrospective online – free and without sign-up. The “Retrospective” template comes with four sections: What went well? What didn’t go well? What will we try? Thanks to … Everyone writes privately first, then the facilitator reveals all notes at once.

Features

Hidden writing

For as long as the facilitator wants, everyone only sees their own notes – the others are blurred. Nobody copies, nobody holds back because the team lead has already written something.

Shared timer

One timer for everyone, visible on every device. When time is up, pens pause automatically.

Themes instead of a flood of notes

At the push of a button the assistant groups similar notes into themes and merges duplicates – with a preview and “Undo”.

Sticky dots for what matters most

Everyone hands out dots – hidden until all are done, if you like. Then sort by dots and discuss the top topics.

Capture actions

“What will we try?” turns into concrete steps: export the result as Markdown or CSV and then follow up on commitments in Actarium.

Remote, hybrid or in the room

Participants write on their phone or laptop; the stage view shows the board large on the projector or in a Teams or Zoom screen share.

How it works

  1. Pick the “Retrospective” template – Start a board, pick the “Retrospective” template and give the board a title, e.g. the name of the sprint.
  2. Invite the team – Share the code, link or QR code – a name is enough, no account.
  3. Collect privately, then reveal – Set a timer, everyone writes on their own. Then reveal all notes at once and walk through them.
  4. Group and vote – Group similar notes into themes, hand out sticky dots and discuss the most important topics.
  5. Export the actions – Take the agreed steps with you as Markdown or CSV – or hand them over to Votarium as votes.

Frequently asked questions

Which columns does the retro template have?

Four sections: “What went well?”, “What didn’t go well?”, “What will we try?” and “Thanks to …”. You can rename, add or delete them – for Start/Stop/Continue, for example.

Is the retrospective anonymous?

Participants enter a name that appears on their notes – a nickname is fine. Thanks to private writing, though, nobody sees in advance what others write.

Is Pinnarium suitable for Scrum retrospectives?

Yes. The template follows the usual flow of a sprint retrospective: gather data, generate insights, decide on actions. Up to 80 people can join.

How long is the retro board kept?

It is deleted automatically 7 days after the last change. Export the result as Markdown or CSV before that.
